Committing to Change with Maggie Sottero

Wedding Industry News talks to leading brand Maggie Sottero about embracing a more sustainable future for bridal fashion and also discovers the plan for buyers and potential stockists at this year's Bridal Week Harrogate…

Maggie is a third-generation, family-owned company committed to creating a more sustainable future for the next generation and beyond. On a mission to learn best practices, reduce our environmental impact and restore vital ecosystems, Maggie Sottero is reimagining everything it does with a regenerative, future-facing view:

"The Maggie family is committed to being the change, disrupting the standard, and creating the future to ensure our brides’ love stories, and planet, endure. As a leader in bridal for over 25 years, Maggie Sottero stays current with trends through industry events and careful research. Still, we also know the viability of our future is predicated on us re-imagining all that we do. Systemic changes have and will continue to be made within Maggie to create a more sustainable wedding space, but we all must work together!"

- CEO and Creative Director, Kelly Midgley on Maggie's ambitious action in three key areas: Waste Reduction, Resource Consumption and Biodiversity Protection.

What’s in store for 2024?

This season, Maggie Sottero re-imagines classic silhouettes with lush, romantic, and nature-inspired details. Gowns are fresh and clean, soft and romantic, light and airy, blooming with modern embellishment, and personalised with whimsical accessories inspired by today’s modern romantic. The Spring 2024 collection by Sottero and Midgley is designed for brides with a bold and amorous spirit. Like an elemental force of nature, these sexy wedding gowns evoke glamour, passion, and adventure — from its generous pops of colour to statement silhouettes, refined embellishment to lush and covetable fabrics. In this world of increasingly precious resources, the Spring 2024 collection by Rebecca Ingram is designed for celebration without extravagance. Featuring flirty silhouettes, effortless fabrics, and stylish finishing touches, these lovingly constructed gowns are made for free-spirited and unpretentious declarations of love. Inspired by art, song, happy gatherings, and wandering with your forever person.

What can your boutique stockists expect to see at the show? Maggie Sottero stands for LOVE and love for ALL – including Mother Earth! We are working to become a more regenerative brand. We're investing in the circular textile supply chain, and the Spring 2024 collection will debut selected gowns with lower-impact materials like recycled polyester and yarn-dyed fabrics. “We are rising to meet this critical moment for people and the planet. We’re implementing systems change throughout our organisation, embedding sustainability as a core value for every team in support of a more sustainable wedding industry. We are working as quickly as we can to reduce our environmental impact, taking ambitious action in three key areas: Waste Reduction, Resource Consumption, and Protecting Biodiversity.”

- Patricia D Launay, Global Sustainability Director and Designer.
